Cornish Beach Wedding

Igloo Structures alternative marquee hire

When we set up Igloo Structures, a Cornish beach wedding  was one of our goals. Our first opportunity came last summer when we were asked to put up The Igloo on Porthtowan Beach for a couple that were getting married at The Blue Bar. The tent was used as an after party venue for guests to carry on celebrating the wedding after the main venue closed.

There was a slight wind on the day so i was a little nervous that the stakes wouldn’t hold in the sand but luckily they were fine. As there was no electricity out to the dunes we had to run the lights and the music from our 12 volt batteries. It was the first time we had used our small digital amplifier so i was interested how long the batteries would last. I always test out batteries in the workshop but there is nothing like a real life test. Volume levels always get pushed when the party gets going. We had the lights on from about 7pm and the music from about 11pm. The wedding couple also wanted a lantern walkway which proved tricky to light in the windy conditions.  The last guest stopped dancing at about 1:30 so the batteries did their job.

The Blue Bar Porthowan

For anyone looking to hold their wedding on a beach in Cornwall then the Blue Bar really is a great venue. They have a dedicated event room called The Boardroom next to the main bar and restaurant. They are fully licensed for both wedding ceremonies and receptions as well as civil ceremonies, blessings, vow renewal and life partnerships. For couples wanting a romantic beach wedding this venue is perfect.

They have a dedicated wedding planner and an extensive list of local suppliers providing most of the services you will need for your special day.
